Dedication
This book is a tribute to the woman who sowed the seeds of wonder and awe in my nature-loving soul, cultivating a garden inside of me that has blossomed into a lifelong passion. Though she left this earthly garden before the completion of this book, her legacy flourishes. I dedicate every page to my dear mother,
MURIEL CAPUYAN GOMEYAC.

DEDICATING THE BOOK
I dedicated this book to my mother at the beginning of my writing process. It may be an uncommon practice, but it is significant for me.
Inspiration and Focus:
Inscribing my mother's name during the book's pre-writing is for inspiration. It reminds me of my "why" and the purpose behind the story.
Motivation:
A tribute in place provides a motivational boost, especially during challenging moments in my writing journey.
Knowing who the book is for keeps me focused on completing it.
Early Expression of Gratitude:
My mother inspired the story. She could no longer read it as she passed away. But dedicating it allows me to celebrate her life and express the appreciation from the beginning. Her memories are still fresh in my mind. She is my muse in this particular craft.
Admittedly, there are drawbacks:

Pressure and Limitation:
Dedicating the book too early creates pressure. Tailoring the story in a specific way to fit the dedication feels a bit restricted.
Change of Heart:
My bond with my mother did not change over the course of writing the book because she passed away. It may be different to other people. There may be a change of heart if something happens with the relationship. It could make the initial dedication no longer appropriate later. So, it all depends on the situation.
Less Traditional:
Dedicating a book in the beginning is not the typical approach. It is unconventional. It is on a case to case basis.
Here is an alternative to consider:
Wait Until Completion:
The traditional approach is to dedicate the book after you finished writing it. It gives you more flexibility and allows the dedication to reflect the final product.
Ultimately, the decision of whether you dedicate your book at the beginning or at the end is a personal one. Weigh the potential benefits and drawbacks, and choose the approach that feels most comfortable and inspiring for you.
